
Prividium Core is now Open Source
Prividium Core is now open source under Apache 2.0: one app and six packages, designed to run against ZKsync OS as a working permissioned chain.

Matter Labs announced today that it is publishing the permissioning engine of Prividium, its distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform, as open source software. The decision addresses a requirement that defines how financial institutions adopt new infrastructure: the ability to run, inspect, and modify the technology they operate, independently of any single vendor. The Deutsche Bundesbank, Germany’s national central bank, is the first institution to test and deploy the platform: the Bundesbank has deployed the platform self-hosted in its own infrastructure, where smart contract and token data remains within its own environment, and the two organisations are collaborating on its design and testing.
The permissioning engine governs the roles, access controls, and permissions on a Prividium chain. Published alongside Prividium's already open source components, it is planned to run standalone, so that an institution will be able to operate a permissioned chain from public code, in its own environment, without a commercial agreement. Administration tooling and integrations into an institution's existing systems will remain commercial.
For a central bank or regulated institution, operating financial infrastructure under its own control is a precondition for adopting new technology and a requirement that has only sharpened as institutions weigh their dependence on external providers across their technology stack. Open source publication allows the operating institution to inspect, run, and modify the code itself; it supports technological independence and reduces reliance on any single vendor. Prividium is designed so that transactions remain confidential within the operator's environment while their correctness can be verified independently through ZK proofs anchored to an EVM-compatible settlement layer. By open sourcing the permissioning engine, any institution will be able to run and inspect the same code the Bundesbank is testing today, in its own environment.
