Prividium Now Extends to Hyperledger Besu
Financial institutions that have built on Besu can now adopt Prividium on their own timeline with a phased upgrade path that adds ZK-proven privacy and Ethereum connectivity without displacing existing infrastructure, governance, or regulatory approvals.
Today, Matter Labs announced that Prividium, its institutional Layer 2 platform, now supports financial institutions operating on Hyperledger Besu. For institutions that have invested in Besu infrastructure (central banks, financial market infrastructures, commercial banks), there is now a practical path to ZK-proven privacy and direct Ethereum interoperability that requires no rip-and-replace transition. Prividium's Besu capability is in active testing with major financial institutions, including a major central bank and a systemically important financial market infrastructure, with first production deployments expected later this year.
Hyperledger Besu underpins approximately 35 percent of enterprise permissioned blockchain deployments globally. For all of them, the path to ZK-proven privacy and direct Ethereum interoperability is now open. Central banks can issue privately-settled wholesale CBDCs and run pilots independently without touching production infrastructure, with other national chains interoperating natively. Financial market infrastructures can settle transactions across institutions and borders with both sides clearing at the same moment and no intermediary able to see the transaction details. Institutions starting fresh deploy Prividium Zones natively; institutions with existing Besu deployments follow the phased path. Both arrive at the same destination: settlement and interoperability inside the Prividium Network, on infrastructure that no single institution controls.
For institutions with existing Besu deployments, Prividium is introduced in three phases: first, alongside the current environment, adding privacy and ZK-proven permissioning without disturbing the underlying chain; then progressively absorbing higher-value services; then connecting to a shared coordination layer for full cross-institution interoperability. Besu carries through every phase with the institution setting the pace.
"Sovereignty and interoperability are not a trade-off," said Alex Gluchowski, CEO of Matter Labs. "Prividium gives institutions that have built on Besu both, adding ZK-proven privacy and Ethereum connectivity to infrastructure already in production, without a cutover and without new counterparty dependencies."
